Pentamox Mineralised Oral Drench For Sheep treats and controls moxidectin-sensitive gastrointestinal parasites (including benzimidazole and/or levamisole-resistant strains), lungworms and itch mites of sheep.  It also aids in the control of selenium-responsive conditions. It can be used to supplement diets that may be deficient in selenium, cobalt, copper, zinc and iodine.

Pentamox Mineralised Oral Drench for Sheep contains moxidectin, a second-generation macrocyclic lactone endectocide effective against internal and external parasites sensitive to this molecular/active substance family.

Active Ingredients: Moxidectin, Iodine, Cobalt, Copper, Zinc & Selenium.

Pentamox Mineralised Oral Drench For Sheep

Active Ingredients:

  • Moxidectin @ 1 g/L
  • Iodine (as ethylenediamine dihydroiodide) @ 1 g/L
  • Cobalt (as disodium cobalt EDTA) @ 0.2 g/L
  • Copper (as disodium copper EDTA) @ 2.1 g/L
  • Zinc (as disodium zinc EDTA) @ 0.6 g/L
  • Selenium (as sodium selenate) @ 0.5 g/L

Pentamox Mineralised Oral Drench For Sheep treats and controls moxidectin-sensitive gastrointestinal parasites (including benzimidazole and/or levamisole-resistant strains), lungworms and itch mites of sheep.  It also aids in the control of selenium-responsive conditions. It can be used to supplement diets that may be deficient in selenium, cobalt, copper, zinc and iodine.

Pentamox contains moxidectin, a second-generation macrocyclic lactone endectocide that is effective against internal and external parasites sensitive to this molecular/active substance family.

Pentamox Mineralised Oral Drench For Sheep is effective against sensitive strains of the following parasites of sheep:

Mature (adult) and immature (L4):

  • Haemonchus contortus (Barber’s Pole Worm)
  • Trichostrongylus spp. (Black Scour Worm)
  • Trichostrongylus axei (Stomach Hair Worm)
  • Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Ostertagia (Teladorsagia) spp. (Small Brown Stomach Worm)
  • Teladorsagia circumcincta, Cooperia spp. (Small Intestinal Worm)
  • Cooperia oncophora, Nematodirus spp. (Thin-necked Intestinal Worm)
  • Nematodirus battus, Nematodirus filicollis, Nematodirus spathiger, Strongyloides papillosus (Intestinal Threadworm)
  • Oesophagostomum columbianum (Nodule Worm)
  • Chabertia ovina (Large-mouthed Bowel Worm)
  • Dictyocaulus filaria (Large Lungworm).

Adult Nematodes:

  • Trichostrongylus rugatus, Trichostrongylus vitrinus, Cooperia curticei, Nematodirus abnormalis, Nematodirus helvetianus, Ostertagia trifurcata, Oesophagostomum venulosum (Large Bowel Worm), Trichuris ovis.

Ectoparasites:

  • Psorergates ovis (Itch Mite).

Pentamox Mineralised Oral Drench For Sheep is effective against benzimidazole and levamisole-resistant strains of H. contortus, T. colubriformis and T. circumcincta.

Pentamox Mineralised Oral Drench For Sheep has shown efficacy against a number of ivermectin-resistant strains of H. contortus and Teladorsagia (Ostertagia) spp.  However, as Pentamox shares a similar mode of action to the avermectins, it should not be used where avermectin resistance is present, except where specifically recommended by an advisor.

  • Administer 1mL per 5 kg live weight using any standard drenching equipment.

  • Check dose rates and equipment before drenching commences.

Animals heavier than 75 kg are to be dosed at 1 mL per 5 kg. 

  • A representative sample of animals should be weighed before treatment. 
  • Dose the mob to the heaviest animal by live weight in each group (ewes, wethers, rams, lambs). Where there is a large variation in size within the group, dose rate should be based on the label directions for each weight range.
  • Do not underdose. 
  • Drafting into two or more lines may be appropriate to avoid excessive overdosing.

Selenium Deficiency: 

  • Pregnant ewes should be treated monthly before lambing to control white muscle disease in lambs.
  • Lambs should be treated either orally or with a selenium-fortified vaccine at marking. 
  • On properties where selenium-responsive ill thrift or selenium-responsive scouring have been diagnosed, treat lambs at marking and again 2 months later.

Tips For Use

General:

  • Do not add copper salts or additional selenium to this drench.
  • Pentamox Mineralised Oral Drench For Sheep has a wide safety margin when used as recommended and is readily accepted by sheep.

Restraints:

  • Do not use in ewes which are producing, or may in the future produce milk that may be used or processed for human consumption.

Contraindications:

  • This product is contraindicated for use unless mineral deficiency is confirmed.
  • This product is contraindicated for use in animals that are dehydrated or unwell.
  • Selenium: This product should not be used when selenium intake from pasture is high or selenium is provided by other means (such as top dressing, vaccine, pellets or selenium drenches) if blood selenium levels at treatment are high. Users can determine selenium status by consulting their veterinarian.
  • Copper: Excessive copper is toxic. Do not use unless copper deficiency is confirmed.
  • Cobalt: This product is contraindicated for use unless cobalt deficiency is confirmed.

Precautions:

  • Pentamox Mineralised Oral Drench For Sheep is not recommended for use in goats as safety and efficacy have not been evaluated.
  • Minerals such as copper, cobalt, selenium, iron, manganese and molybdenum compete with each other for metabolically important processes in the animal.
  • Users should seek veterinary advice before treatment.

Safety Directions:

  • Poisonous if swallowed.
  • May irritate nose and throat.
  • Will irritate the eyes and skin.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
  • Do not inhale.
  • Wash hands after use.

Storage:

  • Store below 30°C (room temperature), in original container, tightly closed.
  • Protect from light.
