WSD Fenbendazole 25 Oral Anthelmintic For Sheep, Goats And Cattle is an anthelmintic commonly used to treat parasitic worms in sheep. It is generally safe for use in pregnant sheep. Fenbendazole is not known to cause significant birth defects in sheep, but there may be some concern that it 'may' increase the risk of miscarriage. For this reason, it is generally recommended to avoid using fenbendazole in pregnant sheep during the first trimester of pregnancy. If you are deworming a pregnant sheep after the first trimester, fenbendazole is generally safe to use. However, it is still important to consult your veterinarian for the correct dosage. Fenbendazole is generally well-tolerated by sheep lambs. However, some lambs may experience mild side effects, such as diarrhea or vomiting. You should contact your veterinarian if your lamb experiences any side effects after being dewormed with fenbendazole. It is important to deworm sheep lambs to prevent parasite spread regularly. Lambs should be dewormed for the first time at 6 weeks of age and then every 6-8 weeks after that. If you are unsure how often to deworm your lambs, consult your veterinarian.

  • Do not use in female sheep producing or may produce milk or milk products for human consumption in the future.

Precautions:

  • Allow 7 days or greater between dosing with WSD Fenbendazole and Bromsalans.
  • Shake the container well before using this product.
  • Internal parasites may develop resistance to drenches (anthelmintics).
  • Ask your local veterinary adviser for recommended parasite management practices for your area to reduce the development of resistance.
  • It is advisable that a drench resistance test be conducted before any drench is used.

Parasite Resistance:

  • Adult worms of resistant strains of gastrointestinal worm parasites may not be removed by treatment, which may require the later use of effective strategic treatment from the WSD range of drenches.
  • Resistance to the BZ group of parasiticides is widespread among gastrointestinal parasites on Australian sheep and goat farms, and there may also be resistance among cattle parasites.
  • The repeated use of any drench is likely to result in the emergence of resistance, and therefore, regular testing for efficacy is recommended if BZ’s are used.
