Description
Ensign 100 Insect Growth Regulator
Active Ingredient: Pyriproxyfen @ 100g/L
Similar or comparable to Admiral Insect Growth Regulator (Sumitomo) & Lascar Insect Growth Regulator (Adama)
Ensign 100 Insect Growth Regulator is for the control of Silverleaf whitefly (Bemisia tabaci Biotype B) in Cotton, Rockmelon and Capsicum, the control of Silverleaf whitefly (Bemisia tabaci Biotype B) and greenhouse whitefly in Tomatoes, and the control of various scales in Citrus, Mangoes and Olives.
Ensign 100 Insect Growth Regulator acts by suppressing embryogenesis with the insect egg and by inhibiting metamorphosis and adult emergence of target insects. Surefire Ensign has no activity on adult insects, but the hatching of eggs laid by treated adults will be suppressed. Since activity depends on the insect’s development, evidence of activity will be slower than typical contact insecticides.
The active ingredient Pyriproxyfen mimics a natural hormone in insects and disrupts their growth. It is a type of insect growth regulator that affects mostly young insects and eggs. Â

Being an insect growth regulator, the best results will be obtained when the product is used when the whitefly population consists primarily of susceptible juvenile offspring. It artificially increases juvenile hormone levels in insects, inhibiting egg hatch & metamorphosis. As with all IGR’s, it can be slow-acting but have long-lasting effects.
Surefire Ensign IGR has a translaminar action through leaf surfaces, is non-toxic to bees and has mostly short withholding periods in crops.
Mango, olive & citrus tree scales are also on the label, with a spring application being preferred. Note that no more than 2 consecutive applications per season of a Group 7C insecticide are required to maintain an effective insecticide resistance management strategy
