Description
Zolvix Plus for Sheep and Cattle
Active Ingredients: Abamectin @ 2g/L and Monepantel @ 25g/L
Zolvix Plus for Sheep and Cattle is a ready-to-use oral drench for the treatment and control of gastrointestinal roundworms sensitive to monepantel and/or abamectin in sheep, including strains resistant to macrocyclic lactones, benzimidazoles, levamisole or closantel drenches (Haemonchus contortus only), and their combinations. Zolvix Plus for Sheep and Cattle also treats and controls gastrointestinal roundworms sensitive to monepantel and/or abamectin in beef cattle and non-lactating dairy cattle.
Zolvix Plus for Sheep and Cattle contains Monepantel, a member of the class of anthelmintics called the Amino-Acetonitrile Derivatives (AADs) while Abamectin is a member of the Macrocyclic Lactone (ML) class of anthelmintics. Zolvix Plus is a unique drench that delivers the power of monepantel in combination with abamectin. Monepantel is a member of the amino-acetonitrile derivative (AAD or ‘orange’) family of anthelmintics, the first new broad spectrum drench class to be registered for use in cattle in Australia in nearly 40 years!
Why choose Zolvix Plus for Sheep and Cattle;
- Sheep:
- A unique mode of action with a broad spectrum of activity.

- 21 day ESI and 14 day meat WHP for sheep.
- A short-acting, broad-spectrum combination drench.
- Incorporating Monepantel into drenching programs can help to prolong the life of all effective drenches against resistance.
- Can be used as a knockout, exit or quarantine drench in drench programs.
- Ideal for use in strategic drenching programs as a summer (WA: autumn), pre-lambing, weaning or quarantine drench.
- Cattle:
- Provides fully-effective, broad spectrum control of key worm species.
- Ideal rotation drench for white, clear and mectin drenches.
- An essential quarantine drench.
- Ideal for young cattle, particularly at weaning.
- Can be administered to beef and dairy calves over 100kg and 16 weeks of age and older.
- Ease of administration with a 30mL Oral Drencher.
With increasing resistance to older cattle drench classes, it’s time to switch to the power of Zolvix Plus. Only Zolvix Plus delivers the power of monepantel, the first member of the ‘orange’ drench class, in combination with abamectin. Zolvix Plus provides fully-effective control of the most important worm species in cattle, including Haemonchus, Ostertagia, Cooperia and Oesophagostomum (adult stage only). Dose determination and dose confirmation studies have shown Zolvix Plus provides >98% control of major worm species in young cattle. Australian field trials have shown Zolvix Plus provides >99.9% control for major worm species found in young cattle.

What is the mode of action of Zolvix Plus for Sheep and Cattle
Amino-Acetonitrile Derivatives (AADs) have a completely unique mode of action compared to all other anthelmintics available on the market. Monepantel causes a paralysis of the worms by binding to a specific receptor that is only found in nematode parasites (roundworms). It is believed that the high margin of safety in sheep and cattle, and environmental safety of Zolvix Plus for Sheep and Cattle is attributable to the fact that the specific receptor for the AADs has not been found in any animal species other than nematodes. Abamectin causes paralysis and death of target organisms via the activation of a glutamate-gated chloride channel present in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, and/or through the effect on gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors.
Incorporate Zolvix plus for sheep and cattle into your Worm control program now
Resistance to older drench classes used in cattle, including the benzimidazole, levamisole and macrocyclic lactone chemical families, has been reported in major worm species in Australia. Zolvix Plus is particularly suitable for use in worm control programs for young beef and non-lactating dairy cattle (>100 kg and at least 16 weeks of age), and for use in ‘quarantine’ drenching programs. Incorporating Zolvix Plus into your drenching program now will not only help to maximise the efficacy of your worm control program but help to prolong the life of existing chemistry.
