Agador Turf Nematicide and Miticide AGADOR Syngenta

Description

Agador Turf Nematicide and Miticide

Active Ingredient: Abamectin @ 20g/L

Similar or comparable to Thumper Miticide (Turf Culture)

Agador Turf Nematicide and Miticide is for the control of nematodes and Couch grass Mites in turf.

Agador delivers fast knockdown of Couch grass Mites and destructive Nematodes. The unique chelated formulation enables root zone positioning where it is needed to control root-damaging nematodes effectively, and when used as a miticide, it provides visual turf greening. When used as a foliar application for mites, it also results in quick green-up of the turf.

What pests does Agador Turf Nematicide and Miticide target;

  • Ring Nematode (Macroposthonia sp)
  • Sting Nematode (Ibipora lolii)
  • Couch grass Mite (Couch Mite) (Aceria cynodoniensis, formerly Eriophyes cynodoniensis)

Why choose Agador Turf Nematicide and Miticide;

  • Effective control of highly destructive nematodes and Couch grass mites in turf
  • A unique chelated formulation that protects the active ingredient, providing optimal soil penetration and contact with nematodes.
  • Visual turf greening when foliar applied as a miticide.
  • Flexible range rates for control of nematodes and mites for up to 3 months.
  • Versatility for use on golf and bowls greens, turf farms, sporting fields, parks, ovals and fairways.

Agador contains abamectin, and the formulation was built specifically so that the abamectin molecules are encapsulated inside an iron-chelated sphere. This shields the abamectin molecule from being trapped in the organic matter of the thatch, as abamectin has a very high KOC (organic binding potential). Agador can be washed into the root zone where the abamectin can protect roots against parasitic nematodes such as Sting Nematode and not be caught in the thatch. It also results in quick turf green-up when left on the leaf during a spray targeting Couchgrass mite.

Agador Turf Nematicide and Miticide for Nematode Control

Agador is particularly active against Sting Nematodes. The window for application should be positioned around the population build-up periods from October onwards. Proper sampling should be carried out to determine the infestation levels in order to choose the most appropriate spray intervals.

Agador Turf Nematicide and Miticide for Couch grass Mite Control

Agador can be used as a preventative or early curative miticide when treating nymph and adult Couchgrass mites. Ideally Agador is used as the first application in a two step process and is rotated with an alternate chemistry from a different mode of action (MOA) group. Agador represents the knockdown component of a program approach aimed at managing this pest better than previously possible.

Agador Turf Nematicide and Miticide is a suspension concentrate (SC) with minimal odour. Take care to apply either as soil application when applied for nematode control or as a foliar application when applied for mite control.

Situation: Turf

Pest: Ring Nematode (Macroposthonia sp) & Sting Nematode (Ibipora lolii)

Rate: 2 L/ha or 20 mL/100 m2

Critical Comments:

  • Apply Agador in an early curative situation (after appropriate nematode extraction, identification and counts).
  • Wash the application into the turf with 3 to 6 mm of irrigation or rain immediately after application.
  • Apply up to 3 consecutive Agador applications at 14 to 21-day intervals.
  • Sting Nematode:
    • When counts are 100 nematodes/200 g soil or higher apply at least 3 consecutive applications of AGADOR at 14 day intervals.
    • Switch to an alternative chemistry class if counts stay high and symptoms persist.
    • Refer to the Application section for detailed information.

Situation: Turf

Pest: Couchgrass Mite (Aceria cynodoniensis, formerly Eriophyes cynodoniensis)

Rate: 1 to 2 L/ha or 10 to 20 mL/100 m2

Critical Comments:

  • Apply Agador at 1 L/ha when pest pressure is low (early curative).
  • Use the 2 L/ha rate when pest pressure is high, and turf injury is evident (late curative).
  • Always add a non-ionic surfactant to ensure good coverage and penetration of leaf sheaths.
  • Apply 1 to 2 consecutive Agador applications at 21 to 28-day intervals if the population persists.
  • Refer to the Application section for detailed information.

Tips For Use

Restraints:

  • Do not use it in the home garden.
  • Do not apply by backpack application.
  • Do not apply with a handgun sprayer.
  • Do not apply with an aircraft.
  • Do not apply through any type of irrigation system or ultra-low volume spray system.
  • Do not apply to turf under heat or moisture stress.

Mixing:

  • Add the required amount of product directly to the spray tank and mix well.
  • Agador mixes completely with water and should not be tank mixed with other fertilisers as it contains an iron chelate.
  • Non-ionic surfactants: Use Agral Spray Adjuvant or Reactor 600 Surfactant (600 g ai/L) at 0.42% v/v or 420 mL/100L spray mix.
  • Alternatively, other non-ionic surfactants (i.e., Wetter 1000) (1000 g ai/L formulations) can be used in a 0.25% v/v or 250 mL/100 L spray mix.

Compatibility:

  • Agador is compatible with Banner MAXX Turf Fungicide, Headway MAXX Turf Fungicide, Heritage MAXX Turf Fungicide, Primo MAXX Turf Growth Regulator and Subdue MAXX® Turf Fungicide.

Application:

  • Apply by ground boom sprayer or low-pressure hand wand.
  • Do not apply by backpack application.
  • Do not apply with a handgun sprayer.
  • Do not apply with an aircraft.
  • Do not apply through any type of irrigation system or ultra-low volume spray system.
  • Do not apply with a nozzle height greater than 50 cm above the ground.

Nematodes:

  • Application volumes for root-affecting nematodes should be as high as possible to ensure their placement is close to the soil surface.
  • When lower application volumes are used, washing in should commence as soon as possible after application.
  • For best results use very coarse droplets (eg Air Induction 08 nozzles) and total application volume of approximately 1000 L/ha.
  • Preferably spray onto wet or dewy grass.
  • Irrigate with 3 to 6mm of water commencing within 1 hour of application.

Couchgrass Mite:

  • Application volume for Couchgrass Mite should be adequate to ensure thorough and even coverage of the turf leaves and penetration into the crowns.
  • The ideal application volume should be 350 to 500 L/ha.
  • For best results, use minimum coarse droplets (e.g. Air Induction 025 or 04 nozzles).
  • In higher-cut turf (≥15 mm) a significant spray shielding effect can occur, impacting negatively on spray penetration and even coverage at low application volumes.

Precautions: Re-entry Period

  • General Public:
    • Do not allow public re-entry into treated areas until the spray has dried.
  • Grounds Staff / Professional Operators:
    • Low exposure activities:

Protection Of Livestock:

  • Do not graze treated turf/lawn or feed turf/lawn clippings from any treated area to poultry or livestock.
