Ivermec Pour-On for Cattle: Broad-Spectrum Parasite Control

Ivermec Pour-On for Cattle is a high-performance solution containing Ivermectin (5g/L), a potent member of the macrocyclic lactone family. This formulation is specifically engineered for the comprehensive treatment and control of both internal and external parasites in Australian cattle.

Furthermore, this product is similar or comparable to industry standards such as Ivomec® Pour-On For Cattle, Ausmectin® Cattle Pour-On, and Baymec® Pour-On For Cattle.

Targeted Parasite Control (Indications)
Ivermec Pour-On is highly effective against sensitive strains of the following gastrointestinal and external parasites:

Internal Parasites
Gastrointestinal Nematodes: Including Ostertagia ostertagi, Haemonchus placei, Trichostrongylus axei, T. colubriformis, Cooperia oncophora, C. punctata, Oesophagostomum radiatum, O. venulosum, Strongyloides papillosus, Trichuris spp., and Nematodirus spp.

Lungworms: (Dictyocaulus viviparus).

External Parasites
Sucking and Biting Lice: (Linognathus vituli, Haematopinus eurysternus, Bovicola bovis, and Solenopotes capillatus).

Mites: Effective against Chorioptic and Sarcoptic mange mites.

Buffalo Flies: (Haematobia irritans exigua).

Cattle Ticks: (Boophilus microplus).

Persistent Activity and Protection
Vetsense Ivermec Pour-On provides extended protection to reduce the frequency of treatment. Specifically, when applied at the recommended dose, it effectively controls re-infection for:

  • Small Brown Stomach Worms (Ostertagia spp.): Up to 14 days post-treatment.
  • Lungworm (Dictyocaulus viviparus): Up to 28 days post-treatment.
  • Buffalo Fly (Haematobia irritans exigua): Up to 21 days post-treatment.

Application Rate:

  • The dose rate is 1mL for each 10kg of liveweight.

Heavier animals (for example, mature bulls) should receive an additional 10mL for each 100kg over 650kg.

Application Advice:

  • Apply along the topline in a narrow strip extending from the withers to the tailhead.
  • Heavier animals, for example, mature bulls, should receive an additional 5 mL for each 50kg over 650 kg.
  • A representative sample of animals should be weighed before treatment, either with scales or a weighband.
  • Dose rate to be based on the heaviest cattle in each group. 
  • Do not underdose. 
  • When there is a large variation in size within the group, draft into two or more lines based on bodyweight, to avoid excessive overdosing.

Tips For Use

General Directions: 

  • The colour of Vetsense Ivermec Pour-On for Cattle fades when exposed to light and, depending on the light intensity, fading may occur in less than 30 minutes. 
  • This rapid loss of colour does not reflect loss of potency or Ivermectin. 
  • However, prolonged exposure to light can also result in a gradual decline of Ivermectin potency in the formulation.
  • Gives off highly flammable vapour. 
  • Keep away from heat, sparks, open flame and other sources of ignition. 
  • Keep closed when not in use. 
  • Only use in a well-ventilated area or outdoors.

Restraints: 

  • Do not use in species other than cattle
  • Do not give orally or parenterally.
  • This product is for application to the skin surface only.

Re-treatment interval: 

  • Do not re-treat animals for 42 days after the last treatment.

Contraindications: 

  • This product should not be used in dogs, horses or any other pets.

Precautions: 

  • Cattle should not be treated when the hair or hide is wet, since reduced efficacy may be experienced. 
  • Rainfall on cattle within 2 hours after dosing may result in reduced efficacy. 
  • Reduced efficacy will result if applied to areas of skin with mange scabs or lesions, or with dermatoses or adherent materials, eg, caked mud or manure.

Environmental Protection:

  • Ivermectin is extremely toxic to aquatic species. 
  • Do not contaminate dams, rivers, streams and other waterways with the chemical or the used container.

Storage: 

  • Store below 30 °C, closed tightly and away from light.

Safety Directions: 

  • Poisonous if swallowed. 
  • It will irritate the eyes and skin. 
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin. 
  • If the product is on the skin, immediately wash the area with soap and water. 
  • If the product gets in the eyes, wash them out immediately with water. 
  • Wash your hands after use.

  • If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126.
