Features & Benefits

  • Contains the active ingredient 2,4-D.  2,4-D is the world’s most widely used herbicide for managing broadleaf weeds.
  • Highly concentrated formulation means lower application rates, with more area treated from fewer containers.
  • Does not leave any lasting soil residues that may limit subsequent crop or pasture rotations.
  • A low-cost herbicide that controls a wide spectrum of broadleaf weeds.
  • Ideal alternative herbicide for integrated weed management of wild radish in cereals.
  • Wide application window in cereals (after 5 leaf/2 tiller stage through tillering up to jointing – usually from 8 to 14 weeks after sowing).
  • Useful for ‘Spray grazing’ to maximize legume seed set in permanent pastures, and reducing seed set in pastures that precede broadacre crops.
  • Controls small vines and broadleaf weeds in sugar cane at the plant stage and when banding at the early ratoon stage.
  • Suitable for high clearance and aerial application in mature sugar cane to prevent vine growth smothering developing plants.

Mixing Glyphosate and 24D Amine is a good option for targeting grasses and broadleaf weeds, as a single tank mix controls various weeds. Mixing glyphosate and 2,4-D amine is usually more effective than using either herbicide alone. This is because the two herbicides work synergistically to disrupt different plant processes.

  2. I have a cool season turf blend: Kentucky Bluegrass, Tall Fescue and strawberry clover. I accept that 2,4-D will kill the clover. Although 24D Amine 625 Herbicide has 'lawns' listed on its recommended use situations, we suggest 2,4-D Amine 300 Selective Herbicide or MCPA Amine 750 Herbicide as a better alternative. These products will damage the strawberry clover without targeting the Kentucky bluegrass. Amine 300 controls Sowthistle, Prickly Lettuce, various mustard species and Sorrel (Creeping Oxalis). MCPA Amine 750 Herbicide controls many thistle species but does not claim control over sowthistle. 24D & MCPA can be sprayed in areas where pets are present. However, the best practice is to remove the pets from the area until the spray completely dries.

24D Amine 625 Herbicide is registered to control Fleabane in sugarcane, pastures, rights of way and industrial situations.  24D Amine 625 Herbicide can also cause severe damage to sensitive crops, such as cotton, via spray drift.  The Turbo Teejet Induction (TTI) and TTI Twinjet (TTI60) are considered the best spray tips to minimise 2,4-D Spray Drift.  They claim less than 1% diftable fines and the maximum drift reduction across the greatest range of speeds, rates and pressures.  However, as 1 drum of 2,4-D can cause millions of dollars of damage to cotton crops in the area, we wouldn't advise you can spray with 'no worries' as your agronomist advises.

24D Amine 625 Herbicide is not registered for bahiagrass control but for selective broadleaf weed control. Monument Liquid Turf Herbicide can be used for post-emergent weed management and for the suppression of seedhead in  Bahia Grass when combined with Primo growth regulators, and is safe to use on Queensland Blue Couch when applied as per the 'directions for use'. A pre-emergent may be another option. Onset 10GR Herbicide, Barricade Herbicide, Oxafert Herbicide And Fertiliser, or Spartan Herbicide are all pre-emergents registered to control bahiagrass and are safe to use on Queensland Blue Couch.

2,4-D 625 Amine Herbicide is not registered to control Signal Grass (Brachiaria).  24D Amine 625 Herbicide is recommended for selective broadleaf weed control in many situations, including cereals, pastures, turf and sugarcane. Signal Grass is not classified as a broadleaf specie. To the best of our knowledge, no selective herbicides control signal grass.

  11. Q How long after spraying White Burr Daisy with 2,4-D Amine 625 can the paddock be slashed
Asked by Ron on November 4, 2022 3:17 pm
    Answered by the admin

After applying 24D Amine 625 Herbicide to Calotis dentex (white burr daisy), we recommend waiting approximately 2-3 weeks before slashing.  As Amine 625 Selective Herbicide is a member of the Phenoxys group of herbicides, it disrupts plant cell growth, causing it to starve to death.  Depending on how actively the plant is growing will determine the time of complete desecration.

To convert 24D Amine 625 Herbicide from a per hectare rate to a spot spraying rate, add 1/100th of the rate on the Weed Table to 10 litres of water. Every 10 litres of mix will cover 100m2. For example, if the rate to spray Capeweed (Victoria) in Weed Table is 1.4L/ha (1400mL x 0.01), use 14 mL/10L water.

24D Amine 625 Herbicide is registered for use in Peanuts, but the label does not go into the specifics of which varieties may be restrained in its use.  Pinto Peanut is classified in the same family (Fabaceae) and genus (Arachis) as cropping peanuts, so technically, 24D Amine should be safe to use as per the directions.  A trial spray in a test area would be recommended before a complete application is undertaken.

24D Amine 625 Herbicide is only registered to selective control broadleaf plant species.  Serrated Tussock is a tufted perennial grass; it will not be controlled by 24D Amine 625 Herbicide.  The recommended herbicides to control are Flupropanate Herbicide (Taskforce or Flupropanate Granules) or Glyphosate.

The 2,4-D Amine products we sell are manufactured in Australia.  The APVMA released a technical report in October 2019 regarding Dioxins in 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) registered for use in Australia.  It found, "All currently approved 2,4-D active constituents except one have been tested for dioxin content using US EPA method 1613B (US EPA 1994). The approval of the single 2,4-D active constituent that has not been tested is currently suspended pending cancellation. The level of dioxins in all approved and tested 2,4-D active constituents are consistent with the proposed new dioxin condition for 2,4-D active constituents".  The report proposed new dioxin conditions for approval of 2,4-D active constituents that ensured "an adequate margin of safety is maintained when the products are used according to the label instructions".  A full version of the report is available online at the APVMA's website.  To the best of our knowledge, there are no pesticides currently registered or have a permit to control Dyschorista depressa.  As this plant is said to be susceptible to various broadleaf herbicides in other parts of the world, 'off-label' application would be required.

Do not use 24D Amine 625 Herbicide on Buffalo Grass.  Buffalo is a broadleaf species of plant, which 24D Herbicide targets and kills.  We would advise using selective herbicides such as Surefire Buffalo, Bindi & Broadleaf Weedkiller as it is suitable for use on Buffalo Turf.  Unfortunately, though this product does not have claims on its label to control Blue Heliotrope so a trial would be necessary to see if it is effective.

  27. Q Will amine 625 eradicate creeping oxalis in blue couch lawns
Asked by graham harrison on December 9, 2021 5:06 pm
    Answered by the admin

2,4-D Amine 625 is registered to control many broadleaf weeds in lawns, including 'Sorrel".  Creeping Oxalis or Creeping Woodsorrel is part of this family, so 2,4-D should effectively control it.   2,4-D can be challenging to regulate when applying, resulting in Phytotoxicity.  Phytotoxicity is damage to the plant from exposure to higher than tolerated chemical levels and results in the yellowing or browning of the leaves.  We recommend Dicamba M Selective Herbicide being a better option for Creeping Oxalis removal in Qld Blue Couch turf.  Other turf specific options include Surefire Buffalo, Bindi & Broadleaf Weedkiller, 3-D Herbicide, Stadium Selective Turf HerbicideFairway Herbicide & MCPA 750 Selective Herbicide.   The full range of selective broadleaf herbicides for use in turf is available at our Specialist Sales Website.
