Cydectin Pour-on For Cattle offers broad-spectrum control of internal and external parasites. 

  • Cydectin Pour-on For Cattle is made from Moxidectin, a second-generation macrocyclic lactone endectocide for the treatment and control of moxidectin-sensitive internal and external parasites of cattle and for the treatment and control of lungworm and gastrointestinal roundworms of red deer.
  • Cydectin is efficacious against roundworms, lungworm, cattle tick, lice and mites which infect cattle and lungworm and roundworms of red deer.

Directions Of Use

Dose Rate:

The dose rate of Cydectin Pour-on is 1mL/10kg live weight (10mL/100kg Liveweight).

Dosage:

Cydectin Pour-On for Cattle should be applied topically at the recommended dose rate of 1mL/10kg bodyweight.

Heavier animals (for example, mature bulls) should receive an additional 5mL for each 50 kg over 650 kg.

Cydectin Pour-on is formulated only for external application to cattle; do not use in other species.  The formulation should be applied along the topline in a narrow strip extending from the withers to the trailhead.  The dose is 1mL for each 10kg of live weight. Dose the mob according to the heaviest animal by live weight in each group (cows, bulls, calves, heifers, etc.). When there is a large variation in size within the group, draft into two or more lines based on body weight, to avoid overdosing.  Do not underdose. Cattle should be weighed with either scales or with a weigh band.

    Cydectin Pour-On for Cattle is not registered or recommended to control ringworm. Iodine Antiseptic Solutions can help treat bacterial skin infections and fungal infections like ringworm. We suggest contacting your veterinarian for the best advice for your situation.

    Cydectin Pour-On can be used in strategic control programs where treatment at 21-day intervals is recommended. As resistance to the types of active ingredients used to make Cydectin can occur with continued use, it is strongly suggested that a rotation strategy be implemented. This rotation should include switching the type of drench depending on the active ingredient and using other products, mainly when targeting tick control. These include products containing Fluazuron or dips and sprays such as Barricade S, Bayticol or Amitik.

    The persistent activity of Cydectin Pour-on For Cattle prevents the development of viable cattle ticks for up to 21 days after treatment. If the season is favourable and the tick pressure is high, this period may be reduced due to the high tick pressure. For the best cattle tick control, a program that utilises different tick products should be considered. These should include long-term tick inhibitors such as Acatak or TickPro Pour-On, made from Fluzauron & the Cydectin Long-Acting (LA) injection (Moxidectin). A rotation of a dip & spray such as Barricade S, Bayticol, Amitik or Tixafly should also be included in the spray program for best results.

    As per the Cydectin Pour-On For Cattle label, the product has a wide margin of safety when used at the recommended dose rate in cattle of all ages.  No restraints, precautions or contraindications restrict the use of Cydectin Pour-On For Cattle depending on the animal's age.

    When applying Cydectin Pour-On for Cattle as per the ' directions for use', it can take up to 5 days for your livestock to become tick free.

    Cydectin Pour-On For Cattle (Moxidectin) is effective against cattle ticks up to 21 days and buffalo fly up to 14 days after treatment. The persistent activity on certain gastrointestinal roundworms (adult and immature L4) varies from 28-42 days, depending on the parasite.     Cydectin Pour-On For Cattle (Moxidectin @ 5g/L) does not control liver fluke.  Cydectin Plus Fluke Pour-On For Cattle (Moxidectin @ 5.0g/L & Triclabendazole @ 200g/L) has claims to control liver fluke (late immature and adult) for 6-8 weeks.

Tips For Use

  • Cydectin is safe to use at the same time as other treatments including mineral supplements and vaccines.
  • Do not apply at the same time as other pour-on products.
  • Lactating dairy cattle must not retreat at less than 21-day intervals.

Weatherproof and Rainfast:

  • The efficacy of Cydectin Pour-on is not affected by seasonal extremes of temperature or UV light.
  • Although not good agricultural practice, efficacy is not affected if applied to wet cattle or prior to rain. However, efficacy against cattle ticks and buffalo fly may be reduced if very heavy rain occurs following treatment.

Dung Beetle Safety:

  • Cydectin Pour-on is not likely to have any significant adverse effect on Onthophagus gazella, O. taurus, Euoniticellus intermedius and E. fulvus. Macrocyclic lactones are not likely to have any long term adverse effect on dung beetle populations.
