What is Fade Away Scourable Wool Marker, and how does it protect wool?
Fade Away Scourable Wool Marker is a high-performance, all-weather spray-on dye. It is specifically formulated for identifying fleece on all sheep breeds. This product contains technical, scourable dye ingredients that sit on the outer wool fibre. Consequently, these components actively reduce dye penetration into the inner orthocortex. This ensures the mark remains visible for management tasks. However, it stays fully scourable for wool processing. Furthermore, it leaves no trace of foreign contamination or permanent tainting.
This wool marker is the only sheep identification product supported by Woolworks NZ Limited. It is fully certified by the Australian Wool Testing Authority (AWTA). The marker meets the AS 4054-1992 standard for scourable branding substances. It withstands harsh environmental conditions and heavy rainfall. Management marks remain distinct until they are no longer required. The formulation is suitable for all livestock. Sheep scanning operations favour this product for its reliability. It provides a safer profile for applicators in confined spaces.
Why choose Fade Away over traditional stock markers?
Traditional markers often cause permanent staining or applicator health issues. These issues are often described as chemical hangovers. Fade Away uses a unique formulation to prevent these problems. It repels the inner wool fibre while adhering to the surface scales. Five high-visibility colours are available for your management needs. These include Pink, Blue, Yellow, Orange, and Green. The aerosol features an angled spray nozzle for precise application. Specifically, this design allows for easy use in scanning trailers. It is also perfect for use in drafting races.
Is Fade Away Scourable Wool Marker safe for all wool types?
Yes, it works effectively on all wool types and sheep breeds. This includes fine merino wool and various crossbred sheep. Additionally, testing shows the mark remains visible for lambing. It then scours out completely during the standard scouring process. This protects the value of your wool clip.
How long does the marker last in the field?
Field results show the product remains highly visible 120 days after application. This durability holds even after extreme weather events. It has been tested with 415mm of rainfall. Professional scanners consider the results to be perfect. The marks stay clear from scanning through to shearing.
Is this product certified for use in Australia?
Absolutely. Fade Away is AWTA certified for the Australian market. It meets the AS 4054-1992 standard for scourable branding substances. This certification covers greasy wool under low-temperature conditions. It ensures the product leaves no residue in the wool.
